Curtis 1206HB-5201 48V 250A Controller

The 1206HB-5201 EZGO Controller is a remanufactured Motor Speed Controller for E-Z-Go and Cushman Golf Carts. It is a 48V controller with ITS throttle. This Controller regulates the speed and direction of motor rotation of your vehicle while maintaining E-Z-Go safety standards.

Pre-installation Tests

Before installing the 1206HB-5201 Controller, you must conduct a set of tests defined in the instruction manual that comes with the controller. Upon installation, you may encounter problems that may be due to a faulty controller or a faulty cart. The following tests will help diagnose if the fault is a cart fault or controller fault.

CHECK MOTOR WINDINGS:

1. Set your VOM to RESISTANCE (Ω).
2. With your motor disconnected, measure A1 to A2. This must measure BETWEEN .3Ω and 1Ω.
3. With your motor disconnected, measure F1 to F2. This must measure BETWEEN 1Ω and 2Ω.
4. With your motor disconnected, measure A1 to F1. This must measure OPEN.
5. With your motor disconnected, measure F1 to motor case. This must measure greater than 5MΩ.

CHECK MAIN SOLENOID:

1. Disconnect all wires from the main solenoid.
2. Set your VOM to RESISTANCE (Ω).
3. Measure the solenoid coil. This must measure NO LESS than 100Ω.
4. Connect VOM leads to the main solenoid lugs.
5. Attach jumpers from the main battery positive and negative to the coil (small terminals).
6. The meter must jump from infinity to LESS THAN .3Ω.
7. Remove jumpers and reconnect solenoid wiring from the harness. (If suppression diode is present,
8. The non-banded side must go the blue wire – pin J1-6 from the controller.)

CHECK COTHERM:

1. Inspect the cotherm (insulating material) mounted to the heat sink for holes, debris, and tears.
2. Repair or replace, if necessary.

CHECK THE CART WIRE HARNESS:

• Check the connectors on the wire harness for corrosion, loose, broken, burnt or missing pins.
• Repair or replace pins as necessary.
